Who we accept & how to refer

Making a referral.

Referrals are accepted from local authority children’s social care, solicitors or the Family Court (with the allocated social worker’s agreement), CAFCASS guardians, and independent social workers within proceedings.

Initial enquiry

Contact the Registered Manager by phone or email. We respond within one working day — telephone enquiries are welcome before a formal referral.

Pre-placement meeting

If suitable in principle, we meet the family and the allocated social worker and agree a written placement agreement.

Admission

The parent receives the Resident's Guide, an induction, and a written, accessible explanation of the assessment process.

Submit the referral

Include the referral form, chronology, latest assessment, care plan, risk assessments and any court directions. We screen within 48 hours.

The home

A genuinely domestic setting.

A two-storey residential house in Manchester, configured as a specialist assessment unit — where every room is also a place to learn how a family lives.

Communal
lounge

The shared social heart of the home, for relaxed daily life and naturalistic observation of parent–child interaction.

Children's
play room

Equipped by age stage from infant sensory play to early school-age craft — a primary space for assessing play interaction.

Kitchen &
dining

Meal planning, preparation and mealtimes are significant assessment activities, with feeding equipment across the 0–8 range.

Family
bedrooms

Four private, individually keyed rooms, personalised at admission — from a bedside crib for a newborn to a bed for an older child.

Assessment &
programme room

A calm, acoustically private space for keywork, PAMS sessions, reviews and clinical work with the therapeutic team.

Staffing & governance

Two clear lines of accountability.

Head Office provides strategic oversight, regulatory accountability and governance. The on-site team — led by the Registered Manager — delivers the day-to-day assessment and residential care.

The Registered Manager holds operational and clinical leadership and is the Designated Safeguarding Lead. The Responsible Individual holds Ofsted-registered accountability. Quarterly governance reviews and an annual self-evaluation against the National Minimum Standards keep practice sharp.

Equality, diversity & inclusion

As fair for every parent.

We serve parents from all backgrounds, cultures and languages, in full compliance with the Equality Act 2010. The assessment is designed to be fair, objective and free from cultural bias or stereotype.

Qualified interpreters are commissioned for all formal sessions where English is not a parent’s first language. Where a parent has a learning disability, we adapt all communication, build in extra support time, and use the ParentAssess framework. Independent advocacy is always supported, never obstructed.

Interpreting

For every assessment session, review and key meeting.

ParentAssess

An adapted framework for a fair evaluation of every parent.

Accessible formats

Easy-read and audio versions of key documents on request.

Advocacy

Independent advocacy supported throughout the placement.
